Contact support
Email hello@andredalwin.com for help or to report a problem. Include your device model, iOS or iPadOS version, Sundae version and build from Settings → About Sundae, and what happened. For camera or Lab issues, include the lens, capture family, resolution, and file type if you know them.
A short list of steps or a screenshot can help. Review attachments for private details before sending them; you do not need to send your photo library. If you use TestFlight, you can also send feedback there. For a first walkthrough, visit Getting started or open Settings → Learn Sundae.
Devices and features
Sundae 1.0 supports iPhone with iOS 18 or later and iPad with iPadOS 18 or later. The Apple Watch companion requires watchOS 11 or later and a paired iPhone running Sundae. Camera capabilities vary by device and lens.
- Eight Vibes, optional Film Emulation, focus and exposure controls, Apple Photos browsing, Photo prints, and Home Screen widgets are part of Sundae.
- Sundae Zero develops a single RAW frame where RAW capture is supported. Sundae Fusion uses Apple ProRAW and is available only on supported cameras. Higher resolutions, including 48 MP, depend on the device and selected lens.
- The Lab requires a compatible RAW source. Adaptive Tone works with RAW development; it is not a guarantee that clipped detail can be recovered.
A missing format or resolution usually reflects the active camera's capabilities. Switch lenses and check Settings → Capture & Save for the choices available on your device.
Photos and permissions
Sundae develops photos on your device and saves finished images and optional RAW negatives to Apple Photos. There is no Sundae account or photo-storage server. iCloud Photos, if you use it, is handled by Apple and your iCloud settings.
Allow Camera access to shoot and Photos access to save and browse. If you chose limited Photos access, Sundae can only browse the photos Apple has made available to it. To change access, open Apple Settings → Apps → Sundae. Location is optional; Location Tagging can be changed in Sundae's Capture & Save settings.
If an older photo or its RAW source is stored in iCloud Photos, allow time and a connection for Apple to download the original. Keep a separate backup of work that matters. Private photography history is image-free and cannot restore a photo.
RAW negatives and the Lab
Turn on Save Negative before shooting with a RAW-capable camera to keep the source for later editing. The RAW and developed image are saved together as one Photos asset where supported. Negatives use additional storage.
Open a photo with an available RAW source in Sundae's Gallery, then choose Edit to change its Vibe, exposure, color, crop, or film treatment. A rendered HEIC or JPEG without a RAW source cannot be redeveloped in the Lab. Turning on Save Negative later cannot create a missing RAW for an earlier photo.
To use a RAW from another camera, import it into Apple Photos first and make it available to Sundae. Compatibility depends on the camera, RAW format, and iOS support; not every RAW file can be opened.
Saving an edit to the existing photo keeps its original RAW intact. Save as New makes a developed copy without a RAW companion; use the original photo for further RAW edits.
Storage and save recovery
A photo is waiting to save
Check available device storage and Photos permission. Free space if needed, then reopen Sundae and allow it time to retry. Save retries depend on the original problem being resolved; a queued photo is not yet safely saved to Apple Photos. Keep the app installed and confirm the photo appears in Apple Photos before relying on it being saved.
“Couldn't open Sundae's photo data”
Sundae could not open its local photo details and pending-save data. It keeps that data intact and waits rather than opening an empty library. Photos already saved in Apple Photos are still there. If storage is low, free some space, return to Sundae, and tap Try Again. If the message continues, email support before deleting or reinstalling the app.
The Shutter says storage is low
Sundae checks free space on the device before capture, including space needed for work already in progress. Free device storage and try again. Available iCloud storage does not replace free space needed on your device. Free-space readings are used locally and are not sent to PostHog.
Apple Watch
Use the Watch companion to preview the nearby iPhone camera, choose a Vibe, and trigger the Shutter. It controls the iPhone camera; it does not take photos on the Watch or provide an internet remote for a distant phone.
If it cannot connect, make sure Sundae is installed on both devices, the Watch is paired with that iPhone, and the devices are nearby with their normal Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connections available. Open Sundae's camera on the unlocked iPhone, then reopen the Watch app. Keep the iPhone camera active while framing and shooting from your wrist.
Analytics and private history
Optional PostHog app analytics are off by default for new installs. Choose in onboarding or change Share Analytics in Settings → Analytics & Privacy. Existing saved choices are respected. Turning it off stops new app analytics; it does not delete events already sent or control Apple's TestFlight data.
Separately, Photography History records image-free capture facts for your Year in Review, coming in a future update. History must be on for future Year in Review features to be available. Turning it off makes those features unavailable while it is off. Turning it back on resumes recording; photos taken while off are not added later. Existing history is kept.
Open Settings → Analytics & Privacy → Photography History to change recording or private iCloud sync, check sync status, export a readable JSON copy to inspect your data, or clear history. Share Analytics does not control any of these choices. Devices using the same Apple account merge capture facts after syncing. Sync first to include available history from other devices in an export. A clear applies to the shared history when devices next sync; photos stay unchanged. Cloud removal waits while offline or sync is paused. Deleting the app can remove unsynced history while a synced copy remains in iCloud.
